If you manage to survive an ambush or get the first move in the fight, make sure to have yuna on the sideline, then switch her with any character in your lineup. Summon forth Valefor and use Sonic Wings over and over again, you can delay the Malboro virtually forever, and if you dismiss Valefor after a bunch of Sonic Wings, your characters will have alot of moves before the Malboro gets to do an attack.

Get ribbon - enough said.
His damage is pathetic and all of the status effects are negated by ribbon.
Some double-casting Firaga is a nice touch, too.

An easier way is to have all or some of your aeons hit 99,999 and have at least one person with confuseproof armor so they can heal the others in your group when you get ambushed at the beginning
