If you talk to the caped man inside the inn you'll get a Luck Source, but won't be able to get the Mind Source (named Mind Plus) from the caped man in front of the mansion at left.
...And vice-versa: if you get the Mind Source first you won't be able to get the Luck Source.

Another difference
Instead of getting 2 luck sources form nibelheim, I got 1 luck and 1 mind instead. BTW I'm playing PC version.
