It is more compact and requires fewer crew members than the previous CC-7700. While the CC-7700 was primarily a platform for gravity well projectors, the CC-9600 is a pure combat vessel. The firepower and shielding of the CC-9600 are considerable, while allowing enough cargo space to accommodate two regiments of ground troops.
