got it
The only weapon I wasn't able to power up was the World Champion because I didn't have the patience or inclination to play that much Blitzball.
However I did manage to get every crest and sigil (except the Jupiter Sigil). Getting the Sun Sigil is hard but not impossible, you just need a little luck and to grab a whole lot of balloons.

I was able to
I was able to obtain the Sun sigil. It was hard but I was lucky enough to dodge all exept one bird and collect 15 balloons. A little practice and you should get it pretty soon.

RE:
I read somewhere that if you hold L1, L2, R1, and R2 all together while doing the race your chocobo handles better. I don't feel it helped me much but maybe it did. I got exactly 0.00.00 seconds and the only way I was honestly able to do it was to keep trying and I got really lucky.

Caladbolg Substitute
Tidus' and Rikku's Celestial weapons are the only ones that dont make an Aeon exceed the 9999 limit. All other characters get weapons that allow Aeons like Shiva, Ixion, Yojimbo, Ifrit, and Valefor to hit for over 9999. You could if you wanted make a Celestial Weapon of sorts for Tidus. Easiest way to do this is buy a four slot weapon from O'aka's brother Wantz and obtain 60 Dark Matters to make a weapon with Break Damage Limit on it. I made a weapon for Tidus with Break Damage Limit, Evade and Counter, Magic Counter, and 1MP Cost. I find that weapon to be more useful than his Celestial Weapon. To make a weapon like that you need -
1: 60-Dark Matters (See my post on Sleep Sprout)
2: 1-Teleport Sphere (See my post on Sleep Sprout)
3: 16-Shining Gems (Steal from Varunas in Omega Ruins, or get 60 by catching one of each enemy from Macalania Woods)
4: 20-Three Stars (Bribe King Behemoth 1,350,000 for 14, or complete catching of two areas in the Monster Arena for 60)

I have the celestial mirror , and I beat the trainer now what?

on May 21, 2004 01:05:31
Query joe
Do you mean you beat the trainer at the catcher chocobo game to get the sun sigil? Coz that's not what you hafta do. You hafta finish the course in 0.00.00 seconds by getting far more balloons than being hit by birds. Apologies if I've misunderstood your query. I've been trying to get the sun sigil since march and I've still no luck. Guess some folk are just no good at driving games (of a sort).

Caladbolg
yes Hold L1, L2, R1, R2 and dont use the analog stick!!!--use the D-pad
i got it finally yesterday...my last game i just made a weapon with damage break limit but it isnt the same :)
b/c legendary weapons have a hidden special ability (bonus to attack if HP or MP is high)--depending on player !
your best bet if u dont know what to do is to search this site of go to squaresoft homepage..adn go to teh strategy guide...but it uses some kinda flash and takes a few to load if u have a dial-up
D-pad is the KEY...and dont even try winning if u dont get 3+ baloons before the 1st turn!

I managed to do it, but it took me about 20 tries, so far the only C-weapon I have not obtained is Kimaris because of those damned butterflies

Caladbolg - how to win the race
Here's how I did it:
First thing is to get 4-5 baloons coming off the hill. If you don't, start over. Here comes the luck - stay to the right, hope that the baloons have been placed in a fairly straight line. If you can get them with little weaving, you're almost there. Pick up the last few in the home stretch - you need to get from 13-15 baloons. I stayed pretty close to the wall at this point.
It goes without saying you need to avoid the birds. When I won, I never got hit by more than 1 bird if at all. If you get hit, I would get at least 14 to be safe. Each time the other rider seemed to be getting nailed and all I had to do was focus on the baloons and keep the weaving when I doged to a minimum. Of course this varries. Sometimes it seems like every bird in Spira is gunning for you. DON'T GIVE UP! Put a great run together with some patience (OK, a lot of patience!) and you'll get there. A fully powered Caladbolg awaits and it's definately worth it.

Tip
One thing that helped me get it is to count the balloons you're getting and not think about anything else. Keeping your mind clear might help. I ended up getting 15 balloons, 1 hit, and 36.1 seconds. Before that, my best had been 2.7. Just keep trying. Morelock's guide has a really good tip, that is to NOT GET UPSET! You will ruin your experience.

Frustrating
I'd say this is the most frustrating celestial weapon to get, but it is doable. Personally, I found it noticeably easier to control with the joystick than the D-pad, but your experience may vary.
I will say that they ought to put a lot more work into any mini-game that they're going to require you to play for an ultimate weapon. Birds sometimes appear so close in front of you that I swear they're literally impossible to dodge, the chocobo seems to veer sharply away from the sides of the course before reaching the edge (even when there are balloons visible farther out), and I've seen birds make hairpin turns around the already-stunned trainer in order to hit me.

Getting Celestial Weapons
This very site lists the location of all Celestial weapons, right here:
i got a time of 0.00.1 second.... only because I got caught on the weird off-level ground at the end ... I hate this mini game to the very depths of my soul

Finally...
I finally did it! since i only had half a day of school i spent 5 hours trying to get this. Phew, but theres nothing much i can say to help. Its all there just keep it in mind. Oh there is one thing. As one of the guys said, DONT GET ANNOYED! - I did after 3 hours and I got 11 birds and 3 balloons. Not the other way round - to make yourself not get annoyed just laugh at yourself when you dont get it. 'cos apparently your mind doesn't know when you are faking happiness or not. So.... *Sings song* DONT WORRY! BE HAPPY!

hard, but IS possible
i was just starting to give up...my best was 8.7 and all of a sudden i just got a perfect run...was a surprise so dont get mad and just keep trying. sometimes i would get like 25 a few times in a row and then all of a sudden the birds would kinda NOT aim for me once and i'd make a decent run...this mini game definitely sux tho :-(

Exactly 0.0.0
I managed to get 12 balloons, miss all the birds and finished in 36 seconds flat, and he now says I've got the record but I wasn't awarded the Sun Sigil... He does give it to you right?
However I did manage to get every crest and sigil (except the Jupiter Sigil). Getting the Sun Sigil is hard but not impossible, you just need a little luck and to grab a whole lot of balloons.
